Mistakes need not always be painful

I am sure that I have learned more from my mistakes, and the mistakes of others, than I have from my successes. Success always comes at a cost. A cost in time, often money and always in mistakes. To prove this, there’s a word game called ‘Wordle’ that has become a world craze. The idea is to guess a word in 6 tries. Each guess must be a valid 5-letter word.  After each guess, the colour of your letters will change, indicating if you have any of the letters correct, or correct but in the wrong place. It’s quite a fun past time.  I remember a similar game called ‘MasterMind’ where one had to guess the colour code of a number of pins, one’s opponent hid behind a little cover.  We used to play it at school. I really can recommend trying Wordle, if only to play with your children. If they can appreciate that getting things wrong can bring us faster to a good conclusion, then I think they will have learnt a very valuable lesson. Enjoy!
